Dear Customer,
MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) has advised that as a result of the flooding in the lower Metro Vancouver region, both Vancouver and Prince Rupert are facing operational and intermodal challenges. As such, they will apply a congestion surcharge from their western ports, including Vancouver and Prince Rupert, to all trades
MSC – Congestion Surcharge Effective date (sail date): December 8th, 2021 USD 150 per TEU for DRY cargo
We will continue to monitor this situation and will advise if there are any changes/mitigation/retraction with this market direction from MSC. As such, it is imperative that you start to incorporate these increases into your short-term pricing strategies as increases will be passed on accordingly.
