Port of Montreal Labour Update

Dear Customer,

 

Further to previous advisory, the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) and the Longshoreman Union CUPE Local 375 have had a truce since last August on any labor disruptions. The truce is in place until March 20, 2021.

The Canadian Federal Government had appointed two senior mediators to assist the negotiations as part of a stronger Federal government mandate to resolve the ongoing labour negotiations.

 

While it was believed that this was a very positive development in attaining a negotiated contract, we are advised today that this past Friday the mediators suspended labour negotiations until further notice.

Unfortunately, no further details are available at this time.

 

We will continue to monitor the situation and advise as and when new information becomes available.
