St Lawrence Seaway StrikeTuesday, October 24, 2023

Dear Customer,
Please note that approximately 350 UNIFOR lock workers walked off the job this past weekend after issuing their 72-hour strike notice to the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) last week.
The St. Lawrence Seaway is a marine shipping route that links the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes through a system of 15 locks between Lake Erie and Montreal.
Also known as Highway H2O, the St. Lawrence Seaway serves over 100 ports and commercial docks helping to move much of the grains exporting from Canada’s Prairie provinces and the US Midwest. Other key cargo includes iron ore, petroleum products, stone, and coal.
Container cargo via the Port of Montreal will remain unaffected by the strike.
The two sides are at an impasse with no talks scheduled as of today.
We continue to monitor the situation and will advise as new information is made available.
Sincerely,
HENSALL GLOBAL LOGISTICS |
