Dear Customer,
Please note that we have received notice that the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) has presented a notice of modification of working conditions to the executive committee of Longshoremen’s CUPE 375 Union.
Effective Thursday, August 6th @ 1500hr, the MEA will refrain from paying time-and-a-half and double-time for evening and weekend shifts. As such, port will operate a daytime shift only Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. solely.
According to the MEA, the decision was necessary following the numerous pressure tactics set in place by the Union which have translated into an unusually high amount of overtime shifts.
It is expected that the reduction in hours of operation will impact the operational fluidity of the port.
Both the MEA and the Union are being encouraged to reach a quick and mutually beneficial agreement.
We will continue to keep you advised as new information is made available.
Sincerely,
HENSALL GLOBAL LOGISTICS |
