Please be advised that many parts of Canada are currently experiencing severe cold weather conditions.
The severe cold and high snowfall present challenging conditions to safe railway operations, primarily to braking systems.
In response, the rail carriers have announced that they will be implementing winter contingency planning.
Train lengths and speeds will be restricted, resulting in longer transit times.
Carriers are encouraging customers to build additional time into their planning as delays can be expected as temperatures across many region continue to drop.
We are advised that certain hubs are already growing quite congested as the rail carriers struggle to manage safe rail operations and volumes.
