Dear Customer,

We would like to update you on the status of the blockades in Ontario and British Columbia.
As a result of the ongoing blockade on CN mainline in Tyendinaga, ON (East of Belleville) CN is experiencing a significant backlog of traffic online and in terminals destined to the Port of Montreal and Port of Halifax. This is the fifth consecutive day that the mainline has been shut down and unfortunately CN is unable to depart trains between Brampton, ON and Montreal, QC. Given the current situation CN has no other option but to stop issuing new reservations for traffic destined to Port of Montreal and Port of Halifax effective immediately.

All active reservations and gate appointments will be honored. CN has asked the industry to work with their carriers in order to avoid unnecessary wait times for drivers trying to acquire same day reservations. The Port of Montreal and the Port of Halifax are also experiencing significant operational impact.

Tracks continue to be blocked out in British Columbia preventing rail movement in or out of Prince Rupert. Terminal operations have been suspended at this time.

Terminal operations have also been suspended at Deltaport and all South Shore Terminals as the blockade has prevented longshore labour for arriving for work. We are however advised that the blockade has just been lifted and as such operations are due to resume today at 11:30PST.

No impact reported at Fraser Surrey Dock to date.

CN are monitoring the situation very closely and evaluating all options, including their legal options.

“We are well aware of the impact this situation has on those who depend on rail transportation to move goods and passengers safely and efficiently.

We thank you for your patience and, while these events remain beyond our reasonable control, we remain committed to minimizing the impact on our customers, our supply chain partners, the Canadian economy, trade in general and the Canadian public.”

We will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Sincerely,

HENSALL GLOBAL LOGISTICS
