Dear Customer,
The following excerpt is taken from a Customer Bulletin received from Hapag - Lloyd:
[Start]
The situation in Canada as a result of the rail blockades remains highly fluid.
In eastern Canada, the blockade in Tyendinaga, ON, east of Belleville, ON was cleared on February 25, 2020. Since the dismantling of this blockade which had been in effect since February 6th further protests continue to pop up throughout Canada preventing trains from moving in this same corridor which has been at a standstill for the last three weeks.
At this time we do not know when trains staged across the CN Rail network will arrive at their destinations. CN is working diligently on resuming operations although we anticipate that the recovery period will take several weeks. Given the unpredictability of the situation we continue to monitor the situation closely but are currently unable to provide you with ETA’s for specific shipments. We apologize for this situation and ask for your understanding until the CN Rail network becomes more fluid and predictable.
In western Canada, CN have confirmed that their recovery plan continues and they are working as quickly as possible to resume regular service levels. In Prince Rupert, ground counts remain high as CN works to clear the backlog caused by the New Hazelton blockade which was in effect from February 8-13th.
CP Rail lines remain open and traffic is moving unimpeded.
[End]
We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
Sincerely,
HENSALL GLOBAL LOGISTICS
