Gemini Cooperation – Maersk Line/Hapag Lloyd

Dear Customer,

Over the next month, Maersk Line and Hapag Lloyd will be transitioning into a new carrier alliance – The GEMINI COOPERATION. Under this new alliance, both carriers will adopt a ‘hub and spoke’ model into the transpacific lanes with less direct calls and more transshipment. By adopting this model, Maersk and Hapag hope to achieve:

Greater efficiencies of mainline operation that will contribute to better scheduling performance
Less service disruption and limitations to congestion
Carrier controlled hubs to reduce dwell time at transshipment ports
Greater adaptability and accuracy with regards to transit times

There will be two services with Canadian ports of call. Service is expected to roll out late February (import) into early March 2025 (export). We anticipate some disruption with these carriers during this transition. Rates may also be subject to change based on new routings.
